SSC photo and signature size: resize your signature
For SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS and GD in 2026, the photo is taken live in the form. The signature is the only upload: about 6 × 2 cm, 10 to 20 KB, JPG.

The browser enforces this: the site’s security policy only lets the page talk to the code libraries’ servers and an anonymous usage counter (tool name, file type, size range). A request carrying your file to anywhere else would be blocked before it left.
Check it yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab, and run the tool. Or turn off Wi-Fi once the tool has loaded; it keeps working.
How it works
For SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS and GD in 2026, the photo is taken live in the form. The signature is the only upload: about 6 × 2 cm, 10 to 20 KB, JPG.
SSC changed its process in 2026. Your photograph is no longer uploaded: it is captured live by your webcam, or with the mySSC app, inside each exam's application form, so you need good light, a plain background, the camera at eye level and no cap, mask or glasses. A photograph of a printed photo is rejected. The only image you still upload is your signature, which the notices for CGL, CHSL and GD describe as about 6.0 cm wide and 2.0 cm high, between 10 KB and 20 KB, in JPG format; blurred or tiny signatures are rejected. Many sites still list the old 20–50 KB photo upload and different signature sizes. Sign on plain white paper, photograph it from straight above, and drop it here: the paper is cleaned up, the signature is framed in a 6 × 2 cm box at 200 DPI, and the file is saved inside 10–20 KB.
How to use it
- Pick SSC. The sizes it asks for load with a link to the official notice.
- Add each image. A phone photo is fine: drag and zoom inside the exact frame.
- Check the list. Format, pixels and KB are checked the way the portal checks them.
- Download. One file per upload, already named and sized.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the SSC signature size?
- About 6.0 cm wide and 2.0 cm high, 10 to 20 KB, JPG, according to the 2026 notices for CGL, CHSL and GD.
- What is the SSC photo size in KB?
- There's no photo upload any more. SSC captures your photo live by webcam during the application, so there's no file size to meet.
- Does this apply to SSC MTS?
- MTS had no 2026 notice when this was checked; the same rules as CGL and CHSL are expected. Check the MTS notice when it is published.
- Why does the portal still reject my file?
- Check you picked the right exam, and that the file you upload is the one downloaded here, not a screenshot or a copy re-saved by another app. Notices change between cycles, so compare with the official link shown on the page.
- Are my photo and signature uploaded?
- No. They are cropped, cleaned and compressed in your browser, on your device. Location and camera details are removed from the saved files.
