The browser enforces this: the site’s security policy only lets the page talk to the code libraries’ servers and an anonymous usage counter (tool name, file type, size range). A request carrying your file to anywhere else would be blocked before it left.
Check it yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab, and run the tool. Or turn off Wi-Fi once the tool has loaded; it keeps working.
How it works
Add page numbers and see them on your pages as you go. Skip the cover, mirror for printing, start from any number.
Your page is shown with the number drawn on it, exactly as it will be saved; flip through the pages to check each one. Choose a format (1, 1 of 12, Page 1, Page 1 of 12, – 1 –, roman numerals, or your own such as "Annex B · {n}"), one of six positions, how far from the edge, the size, colour and font. Mirror on facing pages keeps numbers on the outside edge for printed, double-sided booklets. Skip the first pages (a cover or title page), and choose whether they still count, so page 2 can show 2 or 1. Start from any number to continue a document that was split. The tool also checks each page and warns when the number would land on existing content, such as a footer or a scanned edge; one click adds a small white tab behind the number or moves it to the top. The document's own text is never touched, and the numbers are real text. Everything runs in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib; your file is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Drop your PDF. The first page appears with a number on it.
- Choose format and position. Pick a format, a corner or centre, and how it looks.
- Set where numbering starts. Skip a cover, start from any number, mirror for booklets.
- Save. Press Number and download the PDF.
