The browser enforces this: the site’s security policy only lets the page talk to the code libraries’ servers and an anonymous usage counter (tool name, file type, size range). A request carrying your file to anywhere else would be blocked before it left.

How it works
The NSDL and CDSL consolidated account statements open with your PAN in capital letters. CAMS and KFintech statements use the password you chose when you asked for them.
There are two kinds of CAS. The depository statements from NSDL and CDSL, which show your demat holdings and mutual funds together, are locked with the PAN of the first or sole holder in capitals, such as ABCPR1234K. The mutual fund statements you request from CAMS or KFintech use whatever password you typed into the request form; nobody else knows it, so if you've forgotten it, request the statement again, which takes a minute. Monthly statements they send on their own are reported to use the PAN in capitals, so that is tried too. Zerodha contract notes also use your PAN in capitals. Drop the PDF and type your PAN, and if you remember the password you chose, type that too.

- Drop the CAS PDF. From NSDL, CDSL, CAMS or KFintech.
- Type your PAN. And the password you chose, if it's a statement you requested.
- It opens. Save an unlocked copy for your records.

- What is the CAMS CAS password?
- The password you entered when you requested the statement on the CAMS website. It isn't derived from your details.

- Are my PDF and details uploaded?
- No. The PDF is opened and every password is tried in your browser, on your device. Your name, date of birth and PAN are never sent anywhere or saved.
