# Split a PDF into separate files

> Split a PDF by clicking between pages, or pull out the pages you need into a new PDF.

Open the tool: https://yourbrowsercandoit.com/split-pdf

Click between pages to cut, split every N pages, or pull pages out. Free, no signup. Runs entirely in your browser; files are never uploaded.

## How it works

Every page of your PDF is laid out in order. Click the gap between two pages to cut there, and click again to join them back; each resulting file gets its own colour, and the panel lists exactly which pages each file will contain. Quick cuts split every page into its own file or every N pages (every 2 for double-sided scans, every 10 for chapters). Switch to Pull out pages to tick individual pages, or all the odd or even ones, and save them as a single new PDF in their original order. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable, links keep working and nothing is re-compressed. Split files download together as a ZIP, named by their page ranges. Password-protected PDFs need Remove password first. It all runs on pdf-lib in your browser.

## How to use it

1. **Drop your PDF.** Every page appears in order.
2. **Mark the cuts.** Click between pages, or use Every page / Every N pages. Or switch to Pull out pages and tick the ones you want.
3. **Check the files.** The panel lists each file and its pages.
4. **Split and download.** Split files come as a ZIP; pulled-out pages as one PDF.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I split a PDF into separate pages?

Press Every page under Quick cuts, then Split. Each page becomes its own PDF, downloaded together as a ZIP.

### How do I extract a few pages from a PDF?

Choose Pull out pages, tick the pages you want (or Odd / Even pages), and press Make a PDF. You get one new PDF with just those pages.

### Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied as they are: text stays selectable and images aren't re-compressed.

### Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Splitting happens in your browser with pdf-lib; the file never leaves your device.
