# Sign a PDF

> Draw, type or upload your signature, then drag it onto any page, along with initials, the date, text and checkmarks.

Draw a signature and place it on any page. Free, no signup. Runs entirely in your browser; files are never uploaded.

## How it works

Make your signature three ways: draw it with a mouse, trackpad, finger or pen (strokes are smoothed and thin out as you move faster, like real ink); type your name and pick a handwriting style from the fonts already on your device; or upload a photo of your signature on paper, and the paper is removed automatically. Then place fields straight onto the rendered pages: signatures, initials, today's date, free text and checkmarks, on as many pages as you need. Drag to move, pull the corner to resize, or use the arrow keys for fine nudges. Finishing stamps every field onto the PDF at the exact spot you chose, including on rotated pages. You can opt in to remember your signature in this browser for next time; it is stored on this device only. This is a visual signature, not a cryptographic one: it doesn't add a digital certificate or verify identity, and a determined editor could remove it. For everyday signing (forms, leases, NDAs you're returning by email), it's what's needed. Built on pdf.js and pdf-lib.

## How to use it

1. **Drop your PDF.** Drag the PDF you need to sign onto the page, or choose it.
2. **Create your signature.** Draw it, type it in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of it on paper.
3. **Place it on the page.** Tap Signature, Initials, Date, Text or Checkmark, then drag each into place and resize it from the corner.
4. **Finish and download.** Finish and sign stamps every field onto the PDF; download it or send it straight to Compress or Password protect.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I sign a PDF on my phone?

Yes. Draw with your finger, then tap Signature to drop it onto the page you're looking at, and drag it into place.

### Is this a legally binding signature?

It's an image of your handwritten signature on a PDF, which is typically accepted for ordinary business use. It's not a cryptographic digital signature (no X.509 certificate).

### Can I sign several pages, or add initials and the date?

Yes. Place as many fields as you like on any pages: signature, initials, date, text and checkmarks.

### Is my signature saved anywhere?

Only if you tick Remember my signature, and then only in this browser on this device. Untick it to delete it. It is never uploaded.
