# PAN card photo and signature size

## How it works

The two PAN agencies have different limits. On Protean (formerly NSDL), Form 49A with digital signing asks for a colour photograph of 3.5 × 2.5 cm at 200 DPI, JPG, under 20 KB, and a signature of 2 × 4.5 cm at 200 DPI, under 10 KB, in black ink on white paper; the eSign route allows 50 KB for each, so the stricter limits work for both. UTIITSL's form checks only the file size: the photo must be under 30 KB and the signature under 60 KB. 10 KB is tight for a signature, which is where cleaning up the paper helps: a white background compresses far better than grey paper. Pick Protean or UTIITSL and both files are made to fit.

## How to use it

1. **Pick PAN (Protean or UTIITSL).** The sizes it asks for load with a link to the official notice.
2. **Add each image.** A phone photo is fine: drag and zoom inside the exact frame.
3. **Check the list.** Format, pixels and KB are checked the way the portal checks them.
4. **Download.** One file per upload, already named and sized.
