## How it works

Drop a .xlsx, .xls, or .csv. LibreOffice compiled to WebAssembly handles the conversion, locally in your browser, after a one-time ~300 MB engine download. Each sheet typically renders to one or more PDF pages depending on the print area you've set in the spreadsheet (LibreOffice respects the print area, page breaks, and orientation). For wide spreadsheets, set the page orientation and scaling in Excel before exporting, otherwise columns may overflow. Cell formatting (colors, borders, fonts) is preserved as long as the fonts are available; custom fonts fall back. Formulas evaluate to their current values; the PDF is a snapshot. Charts and embedded images are rendered. Note: the LO WASM bundle isn't fully self-hosted yet; the tool will return an honest error message until it's deployed.

## How to use it

1. **Set up print layout first.** For wide tables, set orientation and scaling in Excel before converting so columns fit.
2. **Drop your spreadsheet.** .xlsx, .xls, and .csv all work.
3. **Wait for the engine on first use.** The LibreOffice WASM bundle (~300 MB) downloads once and caches.
4. **Convert and download.** Each sheet renders to PDF pages locally, respecting print areas and page breaks.

## Frequently asked questions

### Will my spreadsheet's formatting come through?

Most of it: colors, borders, fonts (if available), merged cells, charts, images. Conditional formatting evaluates correctly.

### How are multi-sheet workbooks handled?

Each sheet's print area renders to one or more PDF pages. Order follows the workbook's sheet order.

### Is my workbook uploaded?

No. LibreOffice WASM converts locally.

### Will the column widths fit on the page?

Depends on the spreadsheet. Set up print orientation and scaling in Excel first if you have wide tables, otherwise columns may overflow off the page.
